Hi Zhi,
You do not need MA57, as long as you have some alternative (like MA27,
which is in the HSL Archive). Here is the segement from the INSTALL file:
----- 8< ---------------------------------
Below is a list of the different HSL packages that might be necessary
for the installation of IPOPT.
For example: If you want to use IPOPT to solve problems for which
second derivatives are provided and you are indending to use the
full-space verion IPOPT only (e.g. as AMPL or CUTEr solver), you need
as minimal requirement at least one of the routines MA27, MA47, MA57.
In addition, it might increase the numerical accuracy to use one of
the scaling routines MC19, MC29, or MC30. Note that if you can use
from the HSL archive, we recommend to use at least MA27 and MC19.
MA27: This is required if you want to use the full space option of
IPOPT (IFULL.eq.1) and choose MA27 as the solver for the
symmetric linear system. This routine is available in the HSL
archive.
MA47: This is required if you want to use the full space option of
IPOPT (IFULL.eq.1) and choose MA47 as the solver for the
symmetric linear system. This routine is available in the HSL
archive.
MA57: This is required if you want to use the full space option of
IPOPT (IFULL.eq.1) and choose MA57 as the solver for the
symmetric linear system. This routine is not available in the HSL
archive.
----- 8< ---------------------------------
If you only have access to the HSL Archive, I would suggest you get MA27
and MC19 (assuming that you want to use the "default" options of IPOPT,
e.g. for using IPOPT as an AMPL solver.)
Good luck,
Andreas

Subject: [Coin-ipopt] Installing IPOPT
Hi, all
I am trying to install IPOPT. I just discovered that the package MA57 is
not
in the HSL archive. Should I just ignore this package and continue with
others?
Thanks.
