John,

You're right, SYMPHONY does not check to see if COIN is up to date 
unless you do "make coin". I got tired of having to go through all the 
up to date checks every time just to recompile SYMPHONY. If you're on 
Linux, do a "make coin" and "make" in the SYMPHONY directory. It should 
build everything. Then just do

bin/LINUX/OSI_CLP/symphony -F p0548

Hopefully, that should reproduce the error.
