OK, I see. It was the templating that caused the issue. The STL "swap" 
is declared in exactly the same fashion as you had declared your swap. 
I'm still not sure why it isn't a problem with later versions of gcc.

At any rate, the version in CVS right now does compile with 2.9[56] again.
