Project managers,

This email highlights a few of the responsibilities and resources
project managers have for legal records. Please read it, and especially
submit a CSRO for yourself if your name is listed at the bottom.

The main web page to assist project managers is
http://www.coin-or.org/management/
I encourage you to take a look at it if you have not already done so.

The most common event of legal concern is that someone contributes code
that you would like to include in your project. Before placing such a
contribution in the repository, you need to verify that the contributor
has filled out a CSRO: Contributor's Statement of Respect for Ownership.
(You also need to be sure that they agree to the same license that your
project uses and you need to record their name in the CVS/Subversion log
and the AUTHORS file.)

The CSRO is a short statement that is available on the management page
listed above as well as the contributions page. All contributors must
fill out this form one time only, and then their contributions may be
accepted by any project (barring license issues). Once they have filled
it out, their name will be added to the following page:
http://www.coin-or.org/management/contributors.html

Forms may be "signed" electronically by typing in your name and emailing
them to the COIN-OR Secretary (currently me) at secretary at coin-or.org.
Alternatively, forms may be signed in hard copy and faxed or scanned and
emailed. For a fax, contact me for the fax number.

At this time, we ask two things of you:

1. Fill out a CSRO yourself if your name is below.
2. For all future contributions to your project, check whether the
contributor is on the contributors list at
http://www.coin-or.org/management/contributors.html
If they are not, direct them to the contributions page
http://www.coin-or.org/contributions.html
and let them know they need to submit a CSRO. The contributions page
explains what they need to do. Put their contribution in the repository
once their name shows up on the list. (If they incorrectly send the
CSRO to you, just forward it to me.)

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly or post them
to this list.

Thank you!
