[OS] Mods to fix ASL & socket library specs

Thanks -- I will give this a try tomorrow night, although I have never 
used the --enable-doscompile=msvc command before and I have never had 
trouble without it.  I only have cl on my Windows machine.  I think it 
is using the cl compiler.
