[Ipopt] Help!!! Make failure: Makefile: Must be a separator on line ...

Hi,

actually, we tried to be independent of GNU make, and we made sure it 
worked with native Sun and AIX make.   But I never had an alpha make 
(didn't know they still exist...).

I agree with Steve that installing and using GNU make will probable get 
rid of your problem.
