CBC does accept LP format files, so the use of NL isn't necessarily universal.

One primary reason that the NL file format is used within COIN-OR (and elsewhere) is that it supports non-linear expressions; the other standard or widely used optimization interchange formats do not (with few exceptions, e.g., LP and quadratics). This capability isn't necessary or useful for CLP and CBC, but are essential for Ipopt and related COIN-OR solvers.

Dear Sir,

I'm curious to know why you did not use another input file format, other than .nl ampl generated one, to the COIN-OR solvers.
Is it too much diffcult to do it?
