Andreas,

	You're absolutely correct --- we need everyone using the same version of
autotools, and the only way to insure that is to pull the distributions from the
FSF.  It's certainly the best solution I can think of.  We just need to be aware
of a potential hazard.  Eventually, ignoring one of these distribution-specific
tests may cause some piece of COIN to break.  We'll just have to deal with it
when it happens.
