I finally resolved my problem.  When trying to build the Clp module, instead 
of using 'gmake' I was using my plain ol' 'make'!  Unfortunately, it took me 
a fair bit of time to realize this.

Can I suggest that this be mentioned more explicitly in the FAQ or 
in /COIN/MODULE/INSTALL?

A FreeBSD port entry under /usr/ports/math would also be nice.  I suppose that 
should be left up to the FreeBSD folks though.
