George:
Hans Mittleman (http://plato.la.asu.edu/bench.html) has compared COIN-OR's
SBB to other free mip solvers, but Hans hasn't yet added the COIN LP
solver (CLP) in his comparisons of other free simplex solvers (which
includes GLPK). Unfortunately, Han's website is temporarily down due to
funding issues.
I'll send you a static snapshot of the free SIMPLEX solvers from 04/03
offline in case it is of use to you.

If one builds OSI for glpk and clp, and runs the main program
COIN\Osi\Test\unitTest.cpp with command line parameter
"-testOsiSolverInterface",
then the netlib testcases are run with each solver.
This will provide a comparison for netlib testcases.
For me, the bigger difference between glpk and clp is their open source
licenses.

A couple of questions:
1. Is there a java binding (similar to the glpk jni package) for clp? If
not, are there any interests in creating one?
2. Has someone done some performance comparisons between glpk and clp?
