Martin,

We added an option to the signal-catching routine to abort immediately. 
This should solve your problem with the program not stopping properly. 
The fix is in stable/5.1 in SVN if you want to get it immediately, or 
you can wait for release 5.1.3, which should be out by the end of the week.
