[Coin-symphony] make: invalid option -- O

Recently Fedora was installed on my machine.
make-ing an application gave me the following warning:
/usr/bin/ld: warning: libstdc++.so.5, needed by /disk2/people/hennebry/cointop/COIN/lib/libCoin.so, may conflict with libstdc++.so.6

Aha!  Fedora has a more recent version of libstdc++.

make coin

make: invalid option -- O
