At the moment, a Fortran compiler is required to configure SYMPHONY. This
is partly because some of the recommended third party libraries require a
Fortran compiler and partly because Fortran compilers are usually
available, so there didn't seem to be much point in putting effort into
avoiding the check. What platform are you working on? Is there are reason
not to just install gfortran? that would solve your problem.
