We are pleased to announce that a parallel TSP solver comprised entirely
of COIN software has won the first Open Contest of Parallel Programming
at the 19th International Symposium on Computer Architecture
and High Performance Computing. The contest description is here:

http://www.sbc.org.br/sbac/2007/opencontest.php

The software was authored by Yan Xu and Ted Ralphs building on the
following COIN projects:

Cops (ALPS/BiCePS/BLIS)
CoinUtils
Osi
Cgl
Clp
BuildTools

In the open source tradition, source code for the solver is now included
in stable version 0.9 of BLIS, which will have its first release
shortly. The prize was a Sun server, which will be hosted in the COR at L
Lab at Lehigh University to do testing and nightly builds of COIN
software. Thanks to all the developers and users who contributed to this
outcome.
