Hi Gardner,

I had the exact same problem and I did eventually find a workaround, but 
I don't remember the details. Can you try building with static 
libraries? If that doesn't work, I can try to resurrect what I did. To 
build with static libraries, configure with

./configure --enable-static --disable-shared
