I'm using autoconf 2.59, which is the prereq in coin's configure.ac.  I
don't see documentation to indicate what the 'blessed' versions are for
other tools.

>From the 'autoreconf' info file: `autoreconf' runs `autoconf',
`autoheader', `aclocal', `automake',
`libtoolize', and `autopoint' (when appropriate) repeatedly to update
the GNU Build System in the specified directories and their
subdirectories (*note Subdirectories::).

Basically, it simplifies the process of applying the components of the
GNU Build System.

Yes, I agree. I had trouble finding the Trac wiki's. In fact, the Trac
links point to the wiki for Trac! There should be links from the COIN
home page for the COIN wiki's, or at least to a COIN Help page that
includes all the wiki links plus email list and archive links.

P.S. FWIW, I was able to integrate the COIN build process with Acro
(which contains PICO) using the existing 'configure' script. It worked
fine on Linux, but my experience with similar integration suggests that
that will not be sufficient to ensure portable operation on other
platforms without using the autotools directly.
