Sure, but my comment line is
\ *** ***
and it seems as if the asterixis *within* the comment creates problems in my model.

As far as I know, * indicates a comment in MPS format, but in LP format, it is \.

Are asterixis (*) illegal in comments?
After having removed all asterixis in the original model, the original model is solvable.

Dear All,

I have a really un-understandable problem. The model at
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/download.spidersolutions.no/Projects/LargeScale/modelReportingDuplicate.lp
gives error “### ERROR: 1 duplicates in objective and matrix” and “** Current model not valid”. I am using latest CBC version downloaded 1 week ago.

I can’t see the reason for the message, and what’s more, if I do more or less any change in the *comment line*
\ *** ***
the error message either disappears or is changed. E.g. if the comment line is completely removed, the model is OK/solvable.
(Everything on a line starting with a backslash should be ignored, right?)

Best,
Bjorn

PS. The model is unrealistic i.e. heavily minimized, without removing the original error “1 duplicates in objective and matrix”.
