 In your ticket you say you used a build from 2008-02-08.

 You may have been very unlucky.  A change at 13:45EST on that day created
 a
 problem similar to the one described.  The fix was put in at 12:18 the
 next
 day.

 I can not duplicate the bug with current trunk.:
