There is also an interface for IPOPT in our open source software
FreeFem++ (<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.freefem.org/ff++/index.htm">http://www.freefem.org/ff++/index.htm</a>). The software is
designed<br>
for solving EDP by the finite elements method, but it can also be
used for some other tasks. It has its own language which is nearly
a subset of c with some features of its own. Though, the call to
IPOPT is simplified and you don't have to play with the c++ part.<br>
I don't know what are exactly the non-linear system you're playing
with, but you can visit the web page our feel free to ask me any
question to see if it could fit your needs.<br>

i?m an economist and<br>

i?ve been using ipopt with GAMS<br>
to solve large squared nonlinear systems of equations<br>

but i'd like not to use GAMS anymore<br>
but some free open source software or interface<br>

i will very much appreciate every piece of help<br>
to do this in the easiest possible way<br>
using a programming language similar to that of GAMS if
possible <br>
<br>
since i?m not a programmer and not an expert on
implementing algorithms<br>

Ipopt is the solver engine, GAMS is the interface that
let you use such<br>
engine (and many others) from an high-level point of
view.<br>
If you don't like gams, you can try other interfaces to
ipopt or to other<br>
solver engines.<br>
<br>
If you are looking for open source, you may want give a
try to Pyomo or<br>
OpenOpt, but they are not documented so extensively like
GAMS or AMPL.<br>
