 I think there is a small mistake in the pdf documentation
 at page 12 (in the section "2.3 Compiling and Installing Ipopt",
 at step 5). It is said:

   You can change the default installation directory
   (here $IPOPTDIR) to something else (such as
   /usr/local) by using the --prefix switch for configure.

 I think the default installation directory is {{{$IPOPTDIR/buid}}}
 and not {{{$IPOPTDIR}}}
