 Thanks.  One of the commercial solvers I mentioned is in fact Knitro.  I
 am serious about helping.  I know plenty about C++, very little about
 optimization other in terms of writing a solver but have used plenty of
 solvers, typically with help from experts.  I know decent amounts about
 applied math and numerics to be able to learn/teach myself though.  Any
 suggestions on how to start?
