 Sure, it could be added when stable/2.7 is created. However, how do you
 want it? Right now the timer uses cpu for SELF only. The timer could use
 cpu for SELF + CHILDREN... Or, as you suggest, wallclock. Can you provide
 a patch that serves you best (but preserves current behavior, i.e., codes
 using the current timer would not need to be changed to preserve
 behavior)? Then I'll add it to trunk and then it'll be part of stable/2.7
