Comment:

 The word FREE (for plain mps in free format) or FREEIEEE (for free mps
 file format, but the numbers have a special ieee representation) or VALUES
 (used when the basis is saved into an mps file, so ordinary users would
 not use them on their own) must appear somewhere on the NAME line in order
 to force the COIN mps reader to treat the file as a free format mps file.

 Let me know if the code fails with adding FREE to the NAME section.

 PS: the reason why the code appeared to work with changing to 'bounds' or
 'bds1' is (I think) that with those words the fixed format interpreter
 works, though probably reading incorrect things...
