Dear Friends,
I am writing you this message to inform you of the progress in the
discussion for a standard Cfor Mathematical Programming objects.
First, I'd like to point you to two the following site:
http://senna.iems.nwu.edu/xml
It has information on the current status of the discussions,
including recent proposals and presentations, including significant
activities that took place at the last INFORMS meeting in Miami. It
also has links to relevant material on the specific proposals and on XML
in general.
Second, there is now another standards discussion environment,
hosted by COIN-OR initiative.
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/oss/mailman/listinfo/coin-standards
I strongly encourage all of you to join in. Much of the discussion
will be taking place in that list. If you want more information about
COIN-OR, you can get it at:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/oss/coin/
If you haven't yet, you might also want to check out Dr.
Gassmann's updated site for the SMPS extensions at:
http://www.mgmt.dal.ca/sba/profs/hgassmann/SMPS2.htm
There are some activities planned involving the standard,
including conference calls and selection of standards bodies. These will
take place in the next few weeks and months, and will be announced in the
coin-standards list. If you are interested in participating, please make
sure to join that list.
Thanks,
Leo.
